Certification Course

  • How do I join the certification course if I am outstation?

    We would recommend having an online video course through Zoom. Online Zoom sessions can be done in 2 weeks and there are no extra changes for online courses as it is included in the course fees. 

  • What is the course structure?

    The certification course includes 2 monthly half day lectures and weekly 1 hour group clinical supervision held on Friday 3-4pm or Saturday 11am-12pm for 3 months.

  • Are there any pre-requisites required to participate in the certification course?

    No. There are no pre-requisites required to participate in the certification course. However, we do recommend taking the certification courses level by level.

  • How can I apply for the course?

    You can contact the International Psychology Centre at 03-2727 7434 for any assistance in application, or reach out to us through email at  info@psychology.com.my for the application form. 

  • How frequent are the intake for the courses?

    We have course intakes every month. Kindly email us at  info@psychology.com.my

  • Are the certificates obtained from certification courses internationally recognized?

    Yes. The certification courses are accredited by the World Council for Psychotherapy (WCP).

  • How can I get more information on the certification courses?

    You can look through the course outline on the IPC website, or you can email us at infor@psychology.com.my for the course outline

  • How much do the certification courses cost?

    The prices depends on the selection of courses as well as the level of the courses.

  • Is there any age limit to participate in the certification courses?

    No. There are no specific age limit for the certification courses.

  • Are the certification courses on a full time basis?

    No. Students who are interest in the certification courses have an option to choose to have a full time or part time course. 

  • How many students will there be in each certification course?

    Each group is limited to 8 participants in order to optimize group dynamics.

  • I wish to become either a child psychologist or counsellor in the future. Is there any option in diploma to take or is it to only apply for diploma in psychology.

    Yes, you can have diploma in Child Psychology or Counselling with 3 relevant professional certificate courses accredited by MAP (Malaysian Association for Psychotherapy).

  • As written above is it possible for me to take Assessment for ASD as an Adult?

    Yes, we do. 

  • I would like to take it. Can I learn more how to do so?

    Sure, we can do that for you during a consultation appointment. When do you wish to come for the said appointment?

  • I didn't see many ASD things as an adult in Malaysia. Also I would like to know are u government cooperation or private?

    We are a private centre and affiliated to professional bodies approved by the government.

  • I am interested in studying and being certified for the art therapy certification course provided by you. However, currently I do not live in Malaysia and I do not hold a visa. I was wondering if you provide this course to foreigners

    Yes, we do.

  • If so can you obtain a visa?

    You can either do the course online from your country or if you want to come into Malaysia, you can do so with a social visa which is valid for 3 months sufficient for you to complete your course.


  • I'm an adult diagnosed with ADD. My enquiry is as to whether your counsellors are local or expat or both?

    It is both.

  • What the difference between Adult Psychiatry and health Psychology & Counseling?

    Adult Psychiatry is consulted with a psychiatrist who can prescribe necessary medications ; health psychology & Counseling is consulted with a health and counseling psychologist who would be using psychotherapy processes and can recommend nutritional medicine.

  • Do you allow international participants to attend your courses?

    Yes, we do and you can do so either online or in person.

  • I would like to find out about the NLP certification programme

    IPC NLP certification programme is part-time consisting of 2 half days monthly lecture and 12 weekly one hour tutorial and group clinical supervision classes which can be attended in person or online and recording sessions are available

  • I have seen both art therapy and sand therapy as separate courses displayed on your website, with sand therapy also being placed under art therapy. How will my knowledge of sand therapy defer if I opt for the art therapy course instead of the sand therapy course?

    Sand Tray Therapy and Art Therapy are different modality of Expressive Therapy. We have the general Expressive Therapy course which includes both as well as other expressive therapy modality at a more introductory level whilst the sandtray therapy course and art therapy are courses that focus more specifically on each of these therapeutic modality.

  • Is it possible to study two separate courses at the same time?

    Yes, can do as many courses as student have time for

  • Is Accredited Professional Certification Course Recognized Worldwide?

    This certification course goes toward gaining your general practising licence ( GPL) which you need  3 courses to attaining with Malaysian Association for Psychotherapy ( MAP)

    Upon obtaining your membership, you will be eligible  to apply membership with World Council for Psychotherapy (WCP) which has countries worldwide represented where you can  practise 

  • If open a studio or clinic to access the children/adults/adolescents and provide therapy, where is it registered to?

    For therapy centre can obtain GPL to be registered with MAP first and with that then register with ROC.

    for Clinic need to register with KKM and need MMC APC (annual practicing cert)

  • Is there any possibilities for the certificate to receive any recognition, other than Malaysia?

    Recognition is given in countries represented by WCP (which are many as listed in their website) and ISPCP

  • Can one be Boarded under MAP, if he/she just complete 1 certification course?

    To be registered under Therapy Board, one needs to attain his GPL first and the proceed with 2 level 3 or above courses related to the said board

  • Recognized by MOH ?

    MAP is a full member of the Federation for Complementary & Natural Medicine Associations of Malaysia, a designated body for practice by MOH
