This will be an interactive and informative webinar that would enable psychotherapists, psychiatrists, psychologists and others mental health practitioners to give effective treatment for trauma and other psychological disorders using The Flash Technique: Beginnings, Basics and Beyond.

Philip Manfield published details of the Flash Technique in the November 2017 issue of the Journal of EMDR Practice and Research, demonstrating rapid processing effects for clients who could not tolerate exposure to highly distressing trauma memories without being flooded or dissociating. Such clients are not good candidates for standard EMDR, as the degree of activation in EMDR takes them outside their window of tolerance. The Flash Technique is taught as part of the presenter’s EMDR training, and hundreds of therapists are reporting very positive results with clients that would not be suitable for standard EMDR.

This webinar will explore the foundations of the Flash technique and illustrate with live demonstrations how it has evolved since the 2017 publication, drawing on research (in press) by Manfield, Taylor and others. Hypothesised mechanisms of action will be explored, and detailed instructions provided.

Every participant will have the opportunity to experience Flash technique in a group exercise, and to participate in an individual Flash session has both client and therapist, using a private breakout room.

All participants will receive comprehensive notes, published papers on the Flash Technique and its theoretical foundations, and access to videoed Flash sessions.
